Local Grant Provides AED’s to Community
Ken Miller, Town of Palmyra Supervisor, is seen here after presenting an AED defibrillator to the Palmyra American Legion James R. Hickey Post #120 Commander, Ann Guest. Grant money became available through the estate of Ralph Cator to be used to benefit the people of Palmyra. David Jankowski, Committee member and Post Adjutant, suggested to the Committee overseeing grant applications that there is always a need for AED’s anywhere that people congregate. To that end, the Committee identified six (6) places where AED defibrillators would be accessible to residents in time of need. Identified where the Palmyra Town Hall, Palmyra Village Offices, Palmyra Police Department, Palmyra Community Library, Palmyra Highway Department and the Palmyra American Legion Post.
Mr. Miller has already contacted the Finger Lakes Ambulance service to provide free training on the use of these defibrillators to persons associated with each organization.
Each AED comes equipped with a mounting case that can be installed for easy access to this life-saving equipment.
