Presentation at Parkwood Heights
John Schlafer, Palmyra’s American Legion Post #120 Service Officer, and David Borland, the 2nd Vice Commander, visited the Parkwood Heights of Macedon and shared a presentation about the American Legion; who we are, what it is, what it offers and what it supports. Over 15 senior citizen residents and their spouses attended. Parkwood’s program director, Kandi Ligouri, offered the American Legion this opportunity because of the large number of veterans residing within their community. Following the slideshow and discussion, many questions were asked and information shared. The presentation included how veterans can gain access to the services that are offered in the area. Internet and email addresses were provided to the attendees so they could seek information that was personal and pertinent to them as individuals. Many had been members of a Legion Post in another part of NY State, but were not aware that there was an active Post so close to them where they resided now. Opportunities for inclusion into all the activities being planned by the Post for its members were discussed and offered. We are excited that Bus trips to the Military Tattoo, Air Shows, Washington, DC and other venues are very real possibilities. Day trips to the Post for games, social conversation and camaraderie are also being planned.
