Although the evening’s activities were mostly lighthearted, the real meaning of this Veterans Day is never far from the thoughts of the men and women veterans of our community and nation. Ray Freyn, (US Navy) and District #7 Chaplain, Department of NY, attended a Veterans Day activity at the NY State Fairgrounds in Syracuse today, where 80 different units from around the state marched in review to remember those who gave their all.  Earlier in the day, Palmyra Post members attended the burial ceremony of the young MIA from Phelps who had been found in a mass grave in the Chosin Reservoir area of Korea. Killed in action and not found for 63 years, he was not forgotten. That is the key to Veterans Day. “All gave some but some gave all”. Someone once said that…”no man is ever dead until he is forgotten.” We will not forget.
